We’ll start with a short tour of the village (the old mountain capital) and then walk on centuries’ old stone-paved footpaths\, including part of the Byzantine Way from Lefkes to Prodromos. we will then go through unmarked shepherds’ trails\, in the ravines and valleys below Lefkes to reach the centuries-old olive grove around the white-washed\, fortified monastery of Agia Kyriaki of the 17th c. DESCRIPTION:[EN] Join us in a unique hike in beautiful Parian countryside with great views & sights & exploration! We’ll start our hike from the old mountain capital of Lefkes to find centuries-old\, stone-paved footpaths on the heights of Psyllos above the village. We shall then descend to cross the valley of Apati to climb on the heights of Pigados (the toughest part of the route)\, roaming around terraced hillsides with grain fields\, old vineyards and ancient olive groves. We will then go down the hill to the valley of Vounia to find the old path to Thapsana monastery\, going by fields & picturesque chapels to stop for a visit at the 17th c. fortified monastery of Agios Minas. Our hike will conclude with visits to the Cave of Pan & the Cave of the Nymphs at the Ancient Marble Quarries pf Marathi – to be followed by a great ‘Taste of Paros’ picnic with fresh local produce and wine! A 10-km route on a variety of terrain\, including some rocky\, uphill footpaths. Duration 4h30-5h (incl. stops & picnic)\, net elevation loss 100 m. – includes a touch of easy caving (torches provided).\nThis is a moderate difficulty hike\, so you should be in good physical condition. Θα ξεκινήσουμε από την παλιά ορεινή πρωτεύουσα των Λευκών και θα ανηφορίσουμε προς το λόφο του Ψύλλου για να βρούμε το παλιό μονοπάτι προς Πήγαδο και Θαψανά\, περνώντας μέσα από αιωνόβιους ελαιώνες\, πεζούλες με αμπέλια και σιτηρά και δασωμένες πλαγιές! Μετά μια σχετικά δύσκολη ανάβαση ως το ύψωμα του Πήγαδου\, θα κατηφορίσουμε προς Βουνιά απολαμβάνοντας όμορφη θέα ως τη θάλασσα. Περνώντας μέσα από χωματόδρομους και μονοπάτια βοσκών μέσα στη ρεματιά των Βουνιών\, θα φτάσουμε στη Μονή Αγίου Μηνά για να επισκεφτούμε αυτό το εξαιρετικό δείγμα καστρομονάστηρου του 17ου αι. Θα κλείσουμε την διαδρομή στα αρχαία λατομεία μαρμάρου με επίσκεψη στα σπήλαια του Πανός και των Νυμφών κι ένα ωραίο πικνίκ ‘Γεύσης της Πάρου’ με τοπικά προϊόντα και κρασί! Μια διαδρομή μέτριας δυσκολίας\, 10 χλμ και 4\,5-5 ω. DESCRIPTION:Randonée en Pleine Lune dans les Valées autour Léfkes \n[EN] Join us on our July full-moon hike in the serene valleys and hillsides around Lefkes\, walking along the Byzantine Way\, and then in ancient olive groves and green ravines… all the way up Raches hill (+323 m) for a great sunset and moon-rise! SUMMARY:The Livadia- Delion Sanctuary- Telegrafos Hill- Cape Agios Fokas Hike
DESCRIPTION:[EN]Join us on a memorable hike from Livadia beach in Parikia\, up to the hill of the Delion  Sanctuary and down to Cape Agios Fokas! We’ll walk along the rugged NW coastline and around Parikia bay\, first on high ground and later by the water\, going by golden beaches\, rugged shores & dramatic cliffsides. A walk with quite a bit of historical interest too\, as  we’ll climb on the ancient pilgrims’ footpath up to ruins of the temple of Delios Apollo\, the Greek god of light\, for amazing views to the bay of Parikia\, the mountains of Paros and the islands of Delos\, Mykonos & Naxos in the horizon. We’ll also hike on Telegrafos hill for more magnificent ocean views\, to reach the cave where the great Parian lyrical poet Archilochus (7th c. BC) was rumoured to get inspiration for his verse gazing the open sea! Αt Cape Agios Fokas and the chapel there\, we’ll have a break to enjoy our ‘Taste of Paros’ picnic with a traditional cooked dish\, local produce & wine… and great views of old Parikia town across the bay! The return route is on the coastal footpath by the water\, walking by the nicest sandy beaches in Parikia bay\, i.e. Martselo & Krios.\nA relatively easy route – distance 9 km\, duration 4h30m (incl. stops & picnic)\, on mixed\, hilly terrain (with some rougher rocky stretches) & net elevation gain/loss 155 m.\nYou will need good walking/running shoes (not tennis shoes)\, a good breakfast before the hike\,  hat/sunglasses/sunscreen\, a rucksack and a liter of water each. À bientôt ! \n[EL] Eλάτε μαζί μας σε μια οικοπεριήγηση στον κόλπο της Παροικιάς και την “άγρια” βορειoδυτική πλευρά της Πάρου\, ξεκινώντας από την παραλία των Λιβαδιών (αναψυκτήριο ΝΟΠ). θα ανηφορίσουμε στο λόφο\, φθάνοντας μέσα από το αρχαίο μονοπάτι ως τα ερείπια του αρχαίου ιερού του Δήλιου Απόλλωνα με τη φανταστική θέα στον κόλπο της Παροπικιάς\, τα βουνά της Πάρου και τα γύρω νησιά. Στη συνέχεια\, θα απολαύσουμε εντυπωσιακά θαλασσινά τοπία πρώτα από ψηλά κι έπειτα από το ύψος της θάλασσας\, ανεβαίνοντας στο λόφο του Τηλέγραφου\, κινούμενοι πάνω από τις απότομες βραχώδεις ακτές της ΒΔ μεριάς της Πάρου και  φθάνοντας ως  τη σπηλιά του αρχαίου ποιητή Αρχίλοχου και το ακρωτήρι του Αγίου Φωκά με το εκκλησάκι του. Εκεί θα σταματήσουμε για ένα πικνίκ με “Γεύση από Πάρο” με φρέσκα τοπικά προϊόντα\, κρασί… κι υπέροχη θέα στον κόλπο και την πόλη της Παροικιάς! We’ll walk all the way up on the island’s best-preserved traditional stone-paved footpath to vantage points and majestic views at the chapel of Aghios Nikolaos of Langadha\, and then visit the picturesque 17th c. walled monastery of Aghios Georgios to return on the old pilgrims’ trail to the northern villages… down to Tzannes and back to Dryos\, enjoying beautiful sea views!\nAn 11-km circular hike of moderate difficulty with 4h30m of walking & net elevation gain/loss +/-450m. SUMMARY:The Livadia- Delion Sanctuary- Telegrafos Hill- Cape Agios Fokas Sunset Hike
DESCRIPTION:[EN]Join us on a memorable hike from Livadia beach in Parikia\, up to the hill of Delion Sanctuary and down to Cape Agios Fokas… in the colours of sunset and dusk! We’ll walk along the rugged NW coastline and around Parikia bay\, first on high ground and later by the water\, going by golden beaches\, rugged shores & dramatic cliffsides. A walk with quite a bit of historical interest too\, as  we’ll climb on the ancient pilgrims’ footpath up to ruins of the temple of Delios Apollo\, the Greek god of light\, for amazing views to the bay of Parikia\, the mountains of Paros and the islands of Delos\, Mykonos & Naxos in the horizon. We’ll also hike on Telegrafos hill for more magnificent ocean views\, to reach the cave where the great Parian lyrical poet Archilochus (7th c. BC) was rumoured to get inspiration for his verse while gazing the open sea! Αt Cape Agios Fokas and the chapel there\, we’ll have a break to enjoy our ‘Taste of Paros’ picnic with a traditional cooked dish\, local produce & wine… and great views of old Parikia town across the bay! DESCRIPTION:[EN] Join us on a relaxed botanical walk in the verdant valley of Apati near Lefkes! We’ll savour the colours\, the shapes and the smells of springtime & the countryside as we walk and talk (in English\, Greek & French) about the various aromatic herbs\, edible plants\, fragrant bushes\, trees and the myriad of wild flowers dotting the landscape in the heart of the island: names\, properties\, uses\, and also old myths and anecdotes about them. SUMMARY:The Livadia- Delion Sanctuary- Telegrafos Hill- Cape Agios Fokas Sunset Hike
DESCRIPTION:[EN]Join us on a memorable hike from Livadia beach in Parikia\, up to the hill of Delion Sanctuary and down to Cape Agios Fokas… in the colours of sunset and dusk! We’ll walk along the rugged NW coastline and around Parikia bay\, first on high ground and later by the water\, going by golden beaches\, rugged shores & dramatic cliffsides. A walk with quite a bit of historical interest too\, as  we’ll climb on the ancient pilgrims’ footpath up to ruins of the temple of Delios Apollo\, the Greek god of light\, for amazing views to the bay of Parikia\, the mountains of Paros and the islands of Delos\, Mykonos & Naxos in the horizon. We’ll also hike on Telegrafos hill for more magnificent ocean views\, to reach the cave where the great Parian lyrical poet Archilochus (7th c. BC) was rumoured to get inspiration for his verse while gazing the open sea! Αt Cape Agios Fokas and the chapel there\, we’ll have a break to enjoy our ‘Taste of Paros’ picnic with a traditional cooked dish\, local produce & wine… and great views of old Parikia town across the bay! We’ll walk all the way up on the island’s best-preserved traditional stone-paved footpath to vantage points and majestic views at the chapel of Aghios Nikolaos of Langadha\, and then visit the picturesque 17th c. walled monastery of Aghios Georgios to return on the old pilgrims’ trail to the northern villages… down to Tzannes and back to Dryos\, enjoying beautiful sea views!\nAn 11-km circular hike of moderate difficulty with 4h30m of walking & net elevation gain/loss +/-450m. The tour will start with a journey in history & time around & inside the ancient quarries that produced the raw materials such as the Parthenon Marbles\, Nike of Samothrace and Venus of Milos\, seeking the traces of ancient miners in the Cave of Pan and a last vein of the famed transluscent ‘lychnite’! We will then pay a visit to the fortified 17th c. Monastery of Aghios Minas above and wander a bit more in the rural Parian landscape.  A relatively easy circular route of 4.5-5 km and 2h30m-3h (incl. stops)\, on dirt tracks and rocky footpaths… with a touch of easy caving (torches provided). Θα περπατήσουμε μέσα από τις γραφικές Λεύκες (την παλιά ορεινή πρωτεύουσα του νησιού)\, και γύρω από το καστρομοναστήρι της Αγ. Κυριακής (17ος αι.) και τους γύρω λόφους\, περνώντας από παλιά\, ξεχασμένα μονοπάτια (και σε μέρος του Βυζαντινού Δρόμου) μέσα από αιωνόβιους ελαιώνες\, πέτρινες πεζούλες και δασωμένες ρεματιές – την κυκλαδίτικη ορεινή φύση! Προς το τέλος της βόλτας\, θα κάνουμε  μια στάση στο πανηγυράκι της Αγ. Κυριακής κι ένα ωραίο πικνίκ με τοπικά προϊόντα και κρασί! Απόσταση 9 χλμ\, διάρκεια 4ω30.
